Ive done some swapping and whatnot on a few of my guns.. wound up with a matech BUIS on my mostly colt m4grey.
The primary sight is an aimpoint.

Anyway... how much use does it take before the matech will not stay down anymore? I hear the nub wears fast.

If it keeps poping up. Use a Buisness card.  Cut a sliver off, and wedge it between the stem and base, on the right side.   When closed, this presses the sight into the bind. And stops it from springing up. Mine stays down, and I can deploy it easily. It's a good "Field Rehab"

Thanks for the hint...
Im sure a brass shim would work. I keep some of those in my gun care kit in case a QD mount becomes loose or something.

There was a thread here somewhere that described using a punch to "enhance" the dimple that holds the arm down.
The arm on mine would pop up if I looked at it cross-eyed.
Releasing the bolt would spring it also.
I used a punch and a Mark-1 Hammer, gave it a little tap and the arm has stayed down even after some rough handling.

I worked on and rebuilt about 100 matech buis's so far.... Got them in a auction and refurbed them for resale.

There are two reasons they won't stay down.

1. The pin that holds the actual leaf sight in kinda drifts to the right. Having said this, take a knife or stiff rod and push the pin back to the left. I have had about 30 that would not stay down, some would but as soon as you gently bump it it would flip up. Drifting the pin back left and even pushing as far left as it can go will make it stay down like intended.

2. Second, the actual nub that is purtruding to latch the leaf sight is completely or almost worn off. This is when you take a sharp pointed punch and dimple right over top of it. Pushing and making a new notch or enhancing the existing notch.

..... Make sure you fully support the bottom of the sight housing when re-dimpling the notch, on a couple of ones I did first they were not supported correctly and I bent a couple housings before I knew I did. For me to bend a few housings was ok, as I had a couple hundred leftover, but for you guys who only own one.... You don't want to destroy the only one you have.

Make sure you look to see where the stress goes into before using a pointed punch and re-dimpling.

If anybody has any questions or concerns, I'm here all day....
