Before someone gets all out of shape, I have done a search for this topic and can't find the thread so if anyone can point me in the right direction, please do so.

Some time back there was a discussion about the legal method for permanently attaching a muzzle devoice on a short barrel to make it legal length. According to one or two of the responses the blind pin and weld was no longer legal and only fusion weld completely around the barrel was accepted. Someone cited a ruling in the Gestapo's book about this change. On another forum I was told that it simply cannot be done legally by any method, period. However, I cannot find either the thread or the ruling pertaining to this change.

Can someone please enlighten me on this? I'm thinking of getting a 10" or so, 300 BO barrel and adding a permanently attached non-NFA device to make the legal 16" but want to make sure what is legal. Please don't tell me to call them because on any given day one may talk to an idiot or someone that actually knows something, although the latter is very rare.

Why don't you call ADCO? They do these Pin and weld jobs all the time and since they put their name and service out there, they'll be sure to know if any acceptable measure has changed. If the blind pin is no longer accepted to make the weapon legal, they cannot advertise it as such and would need to re-word the summary of the service to exclude the phrase of "bring the OAL to 16", or AWB compliance" The argument CAN be made in favor of that to ADCO saying it is still permanently attached, but if the BATFE no longer will accept that method, there is no benefit to advertising it as such.

I THINK Ranier arms offers this service as well as does Riflegear just to name 2 more.

ETA: if you dont want to call, then I would write a letter requesting the approved methods and go from there. Dont suggest that you are concerned the blind pin and weld method is no longer accepted. This may prompt an incorrect response. Ask them an open ended question and get it back in writing.

Mods- I am not advertising for ADCO, just providing options for OP
