new guy to the ar platform. been doing my own gunsmithin for a couple years now looking for my first ar build. im looking on opions on the parts as followed , as these are what ive been looking at. thanks in advance and please bare with me as im still figuring out how to use the fourm.
-anderson lower (already picked up for 75 bucks from ffl) -psa lpk -bcm or psa premium upper? both look like good parts from what ive looked up ,but is the bcm really worth the extra 100+ bucks? thanks again! also would these parts be good together. |
| thanks for the quick reply iv herd good thing about both companys, more good about bcm. only bad thing from psa was shipping and availability. i figure bcm would be the better upper. any thoughts on the psa lpk? or any other company's you would recommend? thanks |

Quoted: With the free bolt and BCM comp deal they got going right now, BCM is definitely the better buy right now. Go with them all day long. I've used a PSA LPK on a build in the past and it was good to go. I would buy that with confidence. |

I'm going to go against the grain a little here.
BCM makes good stuff, no question. I have one of their 12.5" uppers, and I like it. A lot. Having said that, it has a tight chamber, and I've had Tula and reloads get jammed in there hard enough that they had to be beat out with rod from the muzzle end. Has happened quite a few times. Meanwhile, both my 16" "freedom" PSA upper and the 16" PTAC stainless HBAR middy have run both types of ammo flawlessly, whilst producing the same 1.0-1.4 MOA 50 yard groups I see out of the BCM. Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy another BCM, and it has never had a hiccup with quality ammo. But it has proved more finicky with ammo that's on the ragged edge of spec. Granted, this is anecdotal, based on a sample size of one from BCM and two from PSA. |
