I may be selling my new to me upper and be buying a new one. My budget is 500, already have optics, what do you guys recommend? I was debating an upper i seen on here for sale but doubt it will last long. I know BCM and always have had bcm but I am in the mood for something different, always ran middys.

I'd personally go with a CHF 4150 BFH from BCM because I want the longest service life I can get. But if you're wanting it to be as accurate as possible, SS is usually the route to go.

do you think it would save more to buy the components and have someone assemble for me and wait to buy the handguard off here?

After picking quality parts and paying for shipping and then having a gunsmith throw it all together the price will be very close. I'd just go and buy it factory from the manufacturer. You also get a warranty if anything happens.

On the flip side, if you know what parts are good and wait for discount codes and/ buy when on sale, you might be able to save a $100 or so.
