I have a AR 15 function question, please excuse me since this is the 1st AR that I have owned.

Why cant I load a loaded mag into the weapon while the BCG is in its locked position.  Basically what I would like to have is a loaded mag in the rifle without the hammer in the fire position, or the BCG open, does that make any sense?  I can get an empty mag to lock in while the BCG is locked, but not a loaded mag.

Not uncommon, but sometimes when the mag is loaded to full capacity what you describe will happen due to too much spring tension. You have to really smack the bottom of the mag to get it to seat or you can down load the mag a couple of rounds.

What mag are you using? That can make a difference.  My magpul mags load easily, no hitting required. The metal mags require more effort to get locked in for me.

As stated try hitting the bottom of the mag hard, not like a sissy, I mean hit it.

Also it's sometimes easier if you leave one round out of the mag, only load 29 instead of 30 etc.

Download your mags by two rounds. Problem solved.
