new guy around these parts...

picked up a nice preban colt a couple of weeks back.  I also own an uzi B model and would like to get some more mileage out of my uzi mags.  Have been looking at 9mm uppers and understand that either a 9mm hammer should be used, or the bolt should be ramped, but I'm unclear on the buffer/spring...

Is there a single-solution buffer/spring that can run in both the 9mm and .223 configurations using a CAR-style adjustable stock?

Appreciate your patience...

Some people shoot the 9mm buffer in a .223 configuration.  They say the recoil "feels" softer and the muzzle rise is more controllable.  So you could use a 9mm buffer.

You may have broken hammer pins when running the 9mm buffer with the 9mm config unless you put a spacer in the buffer tube to limit the amount of overtravel the buffer makes.  The spacer will cost you $2.75 in quarters dropped down the buffer tube then put the spring over the quarters.

So you could buy a 9mm buffer and always pull the quarters out before going to shoot in the .223 config.

You'll also need to cut the mags if you want a last round bolt hold open.

As for the bolt.  Ramp the bolt if you want to use the non-hooked DPMS hammer or any other hammer with a M16 hook.  If you have a 9mm hammer then you don't need the bolt ramped, but you won't be able to shoot .223 easily with a 9mm hammer.  Easiest option IMO is the DPMS LPK.  The DPMS LPK quality can be argued elsewhere.
