First of all I just wanted to say hello to all and that I have seen some incredible weapons here. I have been researching ARs for the last couple months and I am ready to give in and get one (can't fight the urge any longer). I am torn between two options and I need some help from the pros. I can't decide between 14.5" LMT with Troy 7" Handguard (Carbine)... OR a Stag/CMT upper and lower with a 14.5" barrel from CMMG with Troy's 9" Handguard (Midlength). I want to do this right and go with all quality parts. Like I said this will be my first one so I want it to be special. Thanks in advance for the input. -Eric ETA: Your pics are welcome!!! |

Both are great options. I'd say you can't go wrong with either companies. As for gas systems....I dunno. Middys have a longer sight base. Midds supposedly have less recoil (however from my reading, you wont notice a diff) Middys have more room for accesories and tac. gear.\ I'm sure the pros, will chime in with better comparison. |

They are both good choices, From what I hear the middys gas system is a little less violent on the bolt carrier group, which I believe translates into a smoother recoil impulse. I have yet to try one out. You probably already know this , but you will have to permanently attach a flash hider or muzzle brake to your barrel to bring it out to the legal 16" length. Or you can go the S.B.R. route. Also welcome aboard! |
