I just got to shoot and zero my new 11.5in upper today.. Shoots great but damn that Vortex Ting noise is annoying..
I dont remember the noise on my 16in. Is it just more noticable cause it is a 11.5 or just cause I have not shot the 16in in a long time??
I would imagine that there is nothing you can do about it, right

Nothing you can do about it? You could put a sound suppressor on it

The 4.5" reduction of the barrel does make a difference, and the Vortex just amplifies the situation a bit.

Hmm unless you're wearing electronic ear-muffs the muzzle blast would be a bit more annoying don't ya think?

I don't see how anyone hears the buffer tube or Vortex noise.

All I hear is a big bang.

I hear the buffer noise but not the Vortex.

I can hear the ting if i listen for it but usually dont. Its just a noise and i dont really care either way.

I can hear the buffer spring noise, but it's more of a "shhhhh-chk!" noise than a "sproing" noise. I don't have a Vortex (yet), so I can't say much about it.

You should try a HK53, the ping is very bad.
