Here is my program to field a modular rifle system like the SCAR-L series.

Built around Vltor VIS-2 midlength uppers.

VIS-S (mirror to the SCAR-Standard Varient); a "general purpose" assault rifle:

14.5" lightweight barrel by CMMG
Aimpoint (but I'm thinking of going EO Tech)

VIS-DMR (mirror to the SCAR-Sniper Varient); a "squad designated marksman" precision rifle:

18" SPR stainless barrel by WOA
Nightforce 2.5-10X

Nice, I am working on a very similiar project.

I dare you to paint it the SCAR gold looking color

I don't want a gas piston AR.

I may or may not paint them; I've experimented with KG Gunkote and Norells, but I'm not impressed with the durability.

For those late to class, here is what I was emulating:

SCAR-L (Standard Varient):

SCAR-L (Sniper Varient):

Makes sense. Short, light barrel for general purpose use, and longer, heavier, better made barrel for precision use.

So it's like the SCAR, except it's nothing like it at all? Except that the barrels are similar length and profile? I don't think you're the first person to free-float a 14.5" barrel. Very nice looking guns you've got there! I just don't see a similarity with the SCAR.

The SCAR is a modular assault rifle. The same basic reciever is used with different barrels to create varients tailored to a specific role.

In the case of the SCAR there are three varients: CQB, Standard, and Sniper Varient.

What I have done is to build a similar system; since SBRs are verboten in CA, I have only made equivalents for the Standard and Sniper Varient.

Is that so hard to understand?
