I just purchased a 16" lightweight upper from Model 1 Sales. While it feeds from my 30 rnd GI mags, it won't from my 20 rounders (jams every second round against the lower right of the star chamber, driving the bullet flush into the brass).  Simple case of bad mags, or so I thought, but these mags fed fine with the old 20" A1 upper I used to have on it.  Ammo is Winchester hollopoint. Opinions?

This is a known issue when using HP or blunt-nose bullets.  The AR was designed for FMJ bullets that have pointed tips.  The HP have a larger leading diameter at the tip, so this catches to far below the normal feedramp.  The AR can feed HP MARGINALLY.  This is why your other AR can feed these same bullets.. but it is doing it "just barely".

The solution is to get extended feedramps, also called M4 feedramps.
