How does olympic arms stack up against J&T. All I have heard is good things about J&T, but I have also seen a few good things about Olympics Arms as well, could someone please tell me the difference, and what I would be gaining for the extra money if I went with Olympic Arms. Thanks.

Olympic makes many of their own parts, including their barrels.
Some people swear by them, but like you I haven't heard many complaints about the Wilson barrels in the J&T kits either.

Olympic also offers complete rifles as well as kits.

This chart may help identify differences and verify what you are getting with Olympic:

My main experience with Olympic is through their pistol barrels-- very good and about 40% less than other replacements.

I've got an Oly preban lower that is just as good as my other two.  I have yet to have a problem with it.

Olympic use to have a bad reputation for quality until recently......they bought all new machinery and quality control has improved tremendously.  Good stuff now....that's what I've heard.

I have owned a pre-ban oly since 92.  Recently, I realized the bay lug was cast slightly off center.  The lug still locked up, looking close, you could see it wasn't quite straight. I called them and 11 years later, they put a new heavy stainless barrel on my receiver, complete with new sight/lug assembly.  My out of pocket expense - $0.   I wish other manufactures where as good about  their "lifetime" warranties.

The great thing about Olympic is their customer service and warranty.  If anything is wrong they seem to take care of it.  I have a lower that was built in 1984 and I'm sending it back be remanufactured!  Soon I'll have myself a brand new pre-ban rifle, "it don't get no better".

I want to thank everyone who answered my posts about J&T, Model 1, and Oly Arms. I called Oly Arms this afternoon to get some questions answered and found out ( I never bothered to look at their address ) that they are only about 1/2 hour away from me. So I decided that I would go with them, cause it seemed like they had decent stuff, and if something was wrong I could just drive down and whine and complain to get it fixed. :) Plus, the guy on the phone was extremly helpful and when I asked if I could just pick it up so I wouldn't have to pay shipping he said sure, and if I asked for him when I came down, he would even show me around. Needless to say, this impressed me, and if their product is as good as their customer service I am sure I will be pleased. Again thanks to all who helped answer my questions.

Note that Oly anodizes their lowers as of 3-4 years ago.
