lgs has an lmt cqb16 for 1500.00.
good enough price? good starter gun? will be used groundhog control, predators, and blasting. all uses will most likely be under 300 yds. is this all non-proprietary, i would like to be able to change some things on it. have no desire to build, have enough projects to last for years... just want a quality rifle thanks for any help |

LMT is one of the top dogs when it comes to ARs. That would be a good price and an excellent AR. These retail for over $2200.

If you like it get it. Although, I have enough parts currently to build 3 rifles and an AR pistol for the same price. Get what you like and enjoy it. My predator gun will probably have a 20 inch barrel. exactly why i dont want to build one... i would end up with a pile of stuff i didn't want or use. prefer to just buy and shoot. |

There is always the option of buying a complete upper and lower separately. No work required, the same two pins you pop out to clean the rifle, are the ones you push in to put the upper and lower together.
You can get a cheap setup, or a high end one, using this method. And you usually save money. |

where do i find one for a little more than 1500.00? the OBR is 800.00 more on larue web site, thats a big difference Quoted:

Almost can step into a PredatAR for a lol more since you'll probably have tax at lgs. Can shoot the eye out of your yotes where do i find one for a little more than 1500.00? the OBR is 800.00 more on larue web site, thats a big difference Do not pay attention to some of these remarks. There is nothing wrong with the LMT CQB 16. There is really nothing you need to change. It is a fantastic weapon from a stellar company. As I said, the price is excellent. It is hard to find another AR of that quality and those features for less. |

He was referring to the lightweight Predatar, which clocks in at $1807. |

If we could all afford $2,500 rifles, I'm sure we would all have them. And technically, you are supposed to pay tax on out of state purchases. I don't have an LMT, but I've almost walked out of a gun store twice with one. I've never read anything bad about them, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. |

You know I just now noticed that thing has some quick change barrel stuff going on.
I'll revise my statement to, that's a lot of money for stuff I don't need. :) I'm reasonably sure it's a nice gun though, being LMT and all. I don't think I need that nice a gun though myself. More like, half that nice or thereabouts, and a lot of ammo. |

yep my bad, sorry
i am not opposed to the larue predatar, it looks like it weighs a bit more, 6.8lbs for the lmt vs 7.25 for the larue. and the big reason i am interested in the lmt is i can buy it without the hassel of transfer and shipping etc. what advantages would the larue have over the lmt? Quoted:

Actually, I think I just read on the Larue site that it doesn't even come with the sights in the picture. |

OP check out these pics of the British police using the LMT CQB MRP.
Pretty cool the Brits went American: https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/657835__ARCHIVED_THREAD____LMT_picture_thread_and_tech_discussion.html&page=7 |

Depends on what you're looking for in your rifle... The LaRue has a better trigger out of the box, but no iron sights. The LMT has good fixed sights, if you want folding sights, you'll be able to sell the rear easily to the MK18 clone crowd. Both uppers are proprietary, so you won't be doing rail swaps. You can buy spare nuts for the LaRue if you want to go to an after market barrel. I'd wager off a bench the LaRue will be more accurate. Whether that translates into practical accuracy for you is another story. The heavy profile chrome barrel on the LMT will put up with more high volume shooting, the 'tar has a light profile. Thing is... 1500 for a new, with all the bits LMT seems like a screaming deal... I haven't priced any, but don't they list for 2200? |

LMT makes a fine, rifle, there is no denying that. Here's the thing. I like being a sonofabitch, and throwing awesome deals to try and make you double think your purchase.
LMT lower for $559 with 2 stage trigger or LMT lower with standard single stage trigger for $529 with this upper Daniel Defense 16" with 12" lite rail for $689 for a total of $1220, leaving you $280 for sights, ammo, and magazines. Now if you want to go cheaper, and pick out the stock you want, you can always get the LMT with standard stock for $389, making your rifle $1078, leaving your $420, which is enough to buy an Aimpoint PRO. |

Just looked at the flier again, cqb16 is 1449.99 Cqbps16 is 1569.99 Piston version Not familiar with piston uppers. Are they better? Or just different? Think I will get one of these tomorrow. Piston or regular??? DI. Piston is awesome, but I would start with DI while you familiarize yourself with the system. |

I appreciate the links, and if I were more trusting of the Internet and all I'm sure I could find a mind boggling amount of ar's, pieces parts etc...
Thing is I can go pay for this and come home and shoot it. No sending credit numbers, out no making accounts, no waiting, kinda easy and secure if I just go get it. Quoted:

No idea on this specifically, but to your OP, piston often involves proprietary parts. |

get the lmt and don't look back....click me
It's a good price and a great starter. Stay away from a build because if you ever decide to sell, a factory gun is worth more than a Franken gun imho |

I totally get the local, simple, quick, instant gratification thing. I really do, I do that stuff with electronics so
I can fondle them in person. But you can buy every bit as good a gun sans QC barrel for like, a grand. It'd be different if you were looking for that local model or something it offered specifically, but.. eh.... It's a fine rifle and all but shit if I've got an extra $500 or so more when it isn't really needed, that's mags ammo and whiskey money. No doubt it'll serve you well and you can be shooting tomorrow though. Have fun with it. |
