looking at one piece scope mounts for a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 scope that will sit on top of a 24" AR15 with an ACE ARFX rifle length buttstock.
I normally shoot "nose to charging handle" or really close to it....so trying to find a quality one peice without breaking the bank (under $200). Lemme know if you have any experience with the following.... -Burris PEPR -JPEnterprises one piece -Armalite -RRA's new style -Model1Sales 1 piece mount -any others you've used. |

For NTCH, most people need an extended mount, depending on how long the scope eyepiece is. That usually limits it to ADM, LaRue, and maybe GG&G's FLT.
Other mounts may work, depending, but some will prevent you from putting a BUIS on the rail, either due to low height (Armalite) or taking up the entire rail (RRA). Here's the Big List of AR15 one-piece mounts, including sections on rings and extended rails: Big List of AR15 One-Piece Mounts |

I went the cheaper route as I ordered a SWFA SSALT:
It is the exact same as the PEPR, except without the rails on the mounts. Supposed to be here tomorrow but for some reason UPS says it is out for delivery in Texas, which I am no where near. We will see... |
|
The best: Larue Bobro ADM Good quality on the cheap would be: Burris PEPR SWFA SSALT I really like my larue and I've heard alot of good stuff about Bobro, ADM is a few bucks less and seems to have a good product but I haven't used them yet. I also have a PEPR and it seems pretty good for the money, but you can't pop it off and on anytime you want. |

right now I've narrowed it down to the ADM and JP.....with the JP at a minimal difference of $5 cheaper.
I'm not concerned with taking the scope off and remounting it as this is on my only scoped AR, with a 24" barrel, so I wont be using any BUIS or anything like that on it. The GG&G and most of the others just didnt mount the scope far enough forward for me compared to the JP mount and the ADM Recon mount. ADM even has a mount that pushes the rings another full inch further out for another $10. If anyone has any personal experience with th JP or ADM pieces please let me know if your mount was rock solid and stayed that way once tightened down. The last thing I want to to pull up on a 'yote and not drop it cause my scope bumped off a bit! Ability to pull it off and put it back on is of little concern to me, I just want my scope mounted forward and mounted as solidly as possibly. edit~~~~~~~~the SWFA SSALT mount looks promising for the price if it mounts solidly! And thankfully doesnt have the rails on the scope rings! |

I feel I did not need a QD for a scope as it is going to be my only form of optics on it. I am not going to need to take it on and off when hunting or whatnot. Just read this review on it too... I just got the SSALT mount for AR flat-top, seems to be almost identical to the Burris, from specs, at least. I like it.
I have several LaRue mounts, they are great, but why spend $200 on a QD mount when QD isn't needed. For the money, I like the SSALT mount.
My guess is that whomever makes the rail for Burris and the rings for Burris is also making the SS mounts for SWFA. But that's just a guess. from here If needing QD, I probably would have opted for the Larue mount. |

I take off my scope when I clean my upper though, so I don't bang my scope around. In that case, QD, or at least a scope mount that keeps the zero after detach/reattach would be very useful.
I use the ADM RECON, and it works very nicely with my Nikon Monarch 6-24x50. The ADM Recon can be had for $150 if you look in the right places, and from what I understand, it's very hard to tell the quality of an ADM from a LaRue-so save yourself the $50 and buy some ammo... |

The cheapest I've found is around $179 for the Recon, and $189 for the Recon X, even on ebay. |

my preferred scope position mounted would be where the LaRue SPR-E or the ADM Recon X appear to mount the scope.......wouldnt mind finding one of these used or something in about 2-3 weeks.
The SSALT is a good looking mount, but not sure it will be far enough forward for me. I might have to break down and drop the funds for the LaRue or ADM ReconX and go without food for a bit to get it exactly how I want and just ignore the QD mounts on them. |
|
my eyepiece completely clears the charging handle (+1") when mounted on the ADM Recon.
