Hello again all, I hope everyone had a great holiday.

My question is this.....  I think I have decided to share scopes between my AR and my deer rifle.  I bought a leatherwood scope mount on eBay and awaiting delivery on it.  My question is what is available to me in order to easily move the scope from one rifle to the other?  Is there such a thing as removeable scope rings?

I understand that I would have to re-zero it on each rifle but that's not a major issue.

Thanks,
David

Thanks.

I must say they are proud of them.  $109.00!

Must be made of gold. :-)

Thanks again,
David

That seems like this going price.

I did a search on Google for "throw rings" and the several sites that sell them are all around $100.00.  Samething on eBay.

Oh well.   No one ever said this is a cheap hobby.

David

ARMS makes quality stuff, and the price reflects it.  There are more expensive rings out there, btw.  For ease of use in swapping from one rifle to another, throw lever or QD (quick detach) rings are the only way to go, imho.  Avoid the cheap rings that have the screw you need a quarter to turn like the plague.  I'm not familiar with the Leatherwood mount you bought...does it accept a weaver/picatinny rail type mount?

If so, a set of Warne QD rings will work just as well, and be less than half the price of a set of ARMS rings..I have both ARMS and Warne rings on some of my scopes, they each do what I need.  Think of ARMS as military grade, and the Warne as field grade.

Bear in mind that you *may* run into elevation problems from rifle to rifle...I tried to do what you are thinking with 2 different Bushnell scopes, and can't get either of them to zero on one particular rifle...yet other scopes zero fine on that gun.  I have no logical explanation why these scopes don't have enough downward elevation, but that's the problem.  On a flat top AR, there should be no reason at all for this problem.

Ideally, you'll have a combo that will zero on a different rifle with only a few clicks...but you may have to experiment with a lot of gear to come up with the right combo.  Scope choice here could be the determining factor...I'd look into something with a good amount of up/down crosshair movement, like a Super Sniper or something like it.
