what threading is on the flexible rods for the otis kits? i dont know what threading i need to buy chamber brushes with. there is 8-32 and then "military" (8-36?). anyone know? |
All of the OTIS kits I have use the 'civilian' 8-32 thread. I am not aware of any kits in 8-36, though I am sure they might have made some. Their 'Military' kits include an adapter to allow the use of 8-36 brushes on the OTIS flexible rods, so that should tell you how they like to do things. BTW, the OTIS kits are awesome. I only use a rigid cleaning rod now for pistols and clearing obstructions/stuck cases. Everything else I do with the OTIS cables. FluxPrism |
FWIW, I think the short Dewey chamber rod with a regular AR chamber brush does a better job on the chamber than does the Otis. I love the Otis too but the AR chamber needs a "stiffer" rod/rush combo. Dewey makes a fixed handle rod about 14" that is threaded with the 8-32 standard thread. Works great on the chamber! |
