I got my new 300 WTF/BLK out together a few weeks ago. I had my brother machine out the Pac-Nor barrel and in doing so his drill press had too much run out and instead of a gas port of .118 I ended up with a port of .125
Gun shot supers suppressed and unsuppressed. Took the BCG apart and the cam pin is exhibiting wear (small groove). Fast forward to today and I loaded up some subsonics. Took it out to test fire and it cycled fine. Put some supers in it and I immediately noticed it was recoiling much harsher. What's the easy fix here? Heavier buffer?? Not really wanting to switch out and go with an adjustable system.

the Bolt unlock/cycle speed back is dictated from three factors.
Mass/weight of the B/C and buffer The tension of the recoil spring The gas port size and the pressure that the ammo is going to put down the gas action. Since reworking the gas port size is not a option here, the it comes down to either increasing the recoil spring tension, increasing the mass/weight of the B/C- Buffer; or both. |
