i read the post about using a coat hanger to pin on a flash hider, but i was just curious if you could just use a roll pin and spot weld it?????  would this be  strong enough to consider it  perm attached?
                          thanks

I used a roll pin and put a spot over it with my mig welder.

Tig would be cleaner weld and a solid pin would have been better IMO.

I used a spare detent for one of the push pins on the lower recivier. I had to shorten it a little for it to set just below flush in the hole i drilled. I used a mig welder on mine.

I took on old leather glove and stuck the barrel / flash hider in the middle finger of the glove and took a black marker and drew a shot on the glove where the pin was to be welded and then i removed the barrel / flash hider for the glove i then cut a small hole on the spot i drew on the glove and then i put the barrel / flash hider back in the glove and alined the spot to be welded with the hole i cut in the glove.
I did this to keep and any slag or weld splater from getting on any part of the barrel.

I then used a Dremmal tool with a fine grinding wheel and smoothed down the weld i then cold blued it

I tap the hole for a set screw and weld over it.
