anybody out there use the plastic handguards instead of aluminum. i have a set of aluminum ones with a grip pod. i have discovered that the plastic ones are more comfortable to hold and the balance feels better. anyone use the glacier guards or the m4 style with double heat shields. which ones stay cooler.

I have standard M4 handguards on my M4 carbine, the ones that are fatter and have the double heat shield.
They don't become so hot I can't hang onto the forearm even after extended shooting sessions.

I also have KAC rail and a Midwest Industry two piece aluminum forend for this rifle and both of these become warm enough that I have to wear a pair of Nomex gloves to hang onto the rifle with extended shooting.

I have no experience with the Glacier guards other than knowing they use plastic moulding to channel heat away from your hand sort of like the way a Bose Wave radio channels sound.
