Ok ,this has probably been talked about a hundred times, but here goes. If I buy a complete upper from one model 1 sales, and then get a bolt and carrier from J&T, will there be any issues of headspace? or what if I buy a barrel, upper, and bolt from different companies and assemble it myself (barrel extension already installed) will there be any problems? I usually just buy the complete upper with bolt and carrier with it, but thought about doing the whole thing myself this time. |

If I buy a complete upper from one model 1 sales, and then get a bolt and carrier from J&T, will there be any issues of headspace? Chances are 9,999 out of 10,000 you won't have a problem. If you do, send the barrel back to the supplier to be checked or replaced. or what if I buy a barrel, upper, and bolt from different companies and assemble it myself (barrel extension already installed) will there be any problems? (a) Let's get something clear... the upper is out of the equation. Does not matter. (b) Unless you make a living manufacturing AR-15/M16 barrels, you (or I) don't have the equipment it takes to properly install a barrel extension. That is done quite early in the barrel manufacturing process. A non-issue. We buy barrel ASSEMBLIES. (c) That leaves the barrel (with factory installed extension) and bolt.
