| I hunt groundhogs and coyotes and I often load and unload the gun. I know that the Ar uses a floating firing pin and will make slight contact with the primer when chambering a round. Anyone know of a real and possible danger of chambering the same round multipile times. There is no problem with the firing pin protrusion and the rifle only has about 200 rounds through it. But I do have several rounds that do have a primer indent and was just courious about the possibility of a slamfire |
| There was a very clear warning about this in an AR video I watched. I'm not sure which video it was at this point, but the speaker pointed out that when you charge an AR your firing pin does impact the primer and leave a dent. The warning was simply to be aware of what was downrange when charging the gun. |

I wouldn't say not possible...as parts wear, and with ammo factories cranking out everything they can, it's possible you may get a soft primer every now and again.
I wouldn't chamber a round more than 2x without chambering it a third time to fire it...I would ride the charging handle forward while the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction, then use the forward assist to make sure the bolt is seated properly - but that's just me. |
