if memory serves me correct, the longest confirmed kill in Iraq... The way that's phrased, it's misleading. Maybe the longest shot with an M4, in Iraq. The longest confirmed kill over there so far is 1,250 meters, Army sniper, using an M24. Right behind that one is 1,050 yards, Marine sniper, with an M40A3. For the OP - check into some of the "Coyote gun" threads here - plenty of precision 16" setups in those threads. |

what kind of groups do you guys get with your 16" setups? tiny like a bench rifle............................................. 16 inch lothar walther med ss wylde 1in8 with new 69 grain black hills ammo, and all things right in the universe off sandbags with quality 10x glass. |

THEORETICALLY, IN A NO-WIND ENVIRONMENT AND AT A DISTANCE WHERE THE BULLET REMAINS SUPERSONIC, THE ACCURACY ADVANTAGE WOULD GO TO A SHORTER BARREL.
REASONS: 1. A SHORTER BARREL OF THE SAME PROFILE WILL BE STIFFER. 2. BULLET DWELL TIME IS LESS. MY BEST 100 YARD GROUPS WITH AR' FORMAT RIFLES ARE WITH 12.5" NOVESKE S/S BARRELS. |
