I'm looking at getting a precision upper for my current lower and then SBRing my current upper and getting and SBR lower for it. I'm looking at spending about $800 for the upper and I was wondering what y'all would build for that price. I'm going for a RECCE style upper. I have only accuracy in mind with a 16-18" barrel. weight is not a problem. If I can't build something close to a want that will be great on accuracy I will just got with the RRA varmint upper.
So if y'all were in my situation of building the most accurate RECCE style upper with a 16-18" barrel for $800 what would y'all build? |

Mega forged upper http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=189 WOA rifle length 18" SS barrel http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=449 LaRue 13.2" rail http://www.laruetactical.com/larue-tactical-ar15-132-handguard-lt15-132 Gas block ( double check it will fit but it should ) http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2957 rifle gas tube and muzzle device of choice. just over 800 and top quality all the way. If you want to save a decent amount of cash swap the rail out for a PRI tube style handguard and save about 100 bucks and make life alot easier to add a Bipod. I do have the same upper minus the gas block but for accuracy a clamp on style gas block is what you want. Also the Mega upper is a very nice tight fit on both my forged lowers. ETA the rifle length 18 shoots SO friggen sweet. Recoils like a bb gun. My best group was about .8 at 100 yards with cheapo 55 grain stuff. I mostly just plink at about 300-400 with it and don't really shoot much paper but I am sure the barrel is more than capable of even better groups with the right ammo. |
