I am thinking about starting a prototype build and I can get most of the parts but I am having trouble finding the handguard does anyone know a place I can find the prototype style handguard

They are not readily available, but there are some here who are working on that. Jsut what I picked up from various threads about projects that are being worked.

There were many prototypes made, and different handguards...

Some here use actual AR10 handguards (either period or new); others use Israeli FAL handguards suitably modified...still others make their own...from scratch...

I've even seen an AR-15 with the conical handguard from a Valmet M62...Looked pretty cool...
