i noticed on a you tube video that the la rue tactical quad rail has this "Keeper (anti-rotation device)" that comes with their rail system... i have only ever used one rail and it was a cheapy Osprey rail and it does not have a keeper system like the La Rue...
my question is: is La Rue the only one that makes a rail with this "keeper" is there any low budget rail sytems that have a keeper type connection that will keep the rail from comming loose???? the Osprey i have is not very secure... in fact i went hiking today and took my lil carbine and i did a little plinking out there in the woods, but i went off trail to do a little scouting and had to do some crawling through the brush and jumping in and out of creeks, all man vs wild style and this damn rail got loose on me... |

Troy, Samson, Daniel Defense and YHM... these definitely have good systems for keeping the rail from rotating. Except for the Daniel Defense options, they are pretty affordable, depending on your definition of affordable, of course.
Which one you go with might take your current setup into account.... do you have a standard barrel nut? Do you have a front sight block pinned in? You can get a lot of help here if we know exactly what you already have. I could not find the osprey handguard online in a quick search. |

yeah, the osprey i have is a free float tube with the four rails on it... i tried to go on sportsmans guide where i got it from, to pull a link of the rail so i could post it so ya'l could see what im talking about.... but i guess they dont have it anymore i think it was a close out or clearance item becuase its not listed anymore ( the origanal post said limited supply) soo i guess they are all gone.. it was 29.99 and i got it with a buyers club discoount my total was like 26 bucks soo i know its a real cheapy... lol... i guess i cant expect much of this rail thats why i was looking to get something better... but i do notice that here at here at a lovcal shop called "cheaper than dirt" they have several off brand free float rails systems from 60 - 90 bucks i just dont know if any those have an (anti-rotation mount sytem) This rifle is just my beat up rifle anyway
i have plans to make more, and in fact i have all the parts to build another rifle right now i just havent put it togather because i'm thinking of puting a nice rail system on it right now i just have the regular hand guards i can through on it but i think im going to just wait untill i can get a real good rail for her...! i definantly need something with an anti-rotation mount if i go with a rail on this new build... infact i need the anti rotation for both of them... i dont think i will ever use another rail with out it... I DO NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT THIS RAIL COME A LOOSE WHILE IM OUT ROLLING AROUND IN THE DIRT..!!!
THIS was the first rail system i ever tried, i have always just used the regular hand guards or my MOE guards... and if i needed to mount an accesary i just used the bolt on rails that can be added to the original handguards or the MOE rail attachtment... i was just looking asking to see if anybody new of a good cheap rail that would include this Keeper / anti-rotation mount in the price range of 50-60 bucks??? |
