| ok guys, new member here and i am exploring the possibilities of building my first AR, i just wanted to be sure that all the "pre-ban and Post-ban" categories of receivers are no longer applicable, as in, if i buy a reciever, be it DPMS, bushmaster, etc etc etc, i do not have to worry about whether the stock is collapsible, bayonet lug on the barrel, flash hider, etc etc etc, i live in Florida, so i do not believe we have much in the way of prohibitive legislature against such guns, but i just wanted to be positive, as i do not want to violate the law in any way, forgive me if this question seems a bit ignorant as it seems a lot of you are building these guns, but i just want to leave no stone unturned so to speak in this process! thanks a lot guys, i'm glad to be a member on these forums, and i am sure i'll have plenty of questions for you all! |

Welcome aboard! Yes, you are correct. There are no longer Federal restrictions on what an AR can or can not have. I also don't think the state of Florida has such restrictions either. But there may be a city or two that do. I think you're good to go, but I'm sure someone will chime in that knows for certain. You can also post this question in the Hometown Forums and get an answer from the Florida crew. |
| Yes, the Federal AWB is gone and collapsable stocks, bayonet lugs, etc. are fine. FL does not have any regulations restricting that either, nor any cities (statewide preemption law). All you have to watch on an AR build is pretty much barrel length and full auto parts. |
