I put together a stag lower, collapsible stock, standard lower parts kit, crappy trigger which was rough and probably at least 8-9 pounds. The upper is RRA 20” 1/9 twist flat top. I put a Simmons 6.5 X20 scope which has been sitting in a drawer for at least 4-5 years, with a Rock River Arms scope mount. I bore sighted it before I left for the range. On the range about 40 degrees, very little wind. I ran about 10 rounds of 55 gr fmj, down range. Made some adjustments and then shot 5 68 grain bthp. At 100 yards with the nasty trigger I put those 5 round into a group about .970. The AR system is an amazing system. I’m anxious to see what this will do with a stock more suitable to long range work, a good scope, and some loads that are fine tuned. Following those 5 shots, I ran about 125 down range which included some more 55gr FMJ, some 55 gr Spire points, some 53 gr HP’s, and some other 68 gr HP. I had one failure to feed it appeared the 68 grain was seated a little too long. All in all a very good day at the range. just wanted to add, I intend to put on a good scope and will probably go with a jp trigger. I love the AR system |
