| If you've got a screw with Loctite on it (in this case blue), and you need to remove the hardware and re-install it (scope rings, for example), do you remove the old Loctite and put new Loctite on, just put new Loctite on the old Loctite, or just screw the screws back in with no new Loctite? |

Yes, you should remove all of the old threadlocker or else the torque values will not be correct. Also, the new threadlocker will not bond well unless the old threadlocker is removed.
Removal is possible with methylene chloride, acetone works sometimes also. This goes for both the internal and external threads. |
| I do my best to remove old loc-tite when reusing a a bolt/screw. Since it is heat sensitive i'll often times heat up the threads with a lighter (while holding the bolt with a vice grips) and then just use a wire brush to remove it. Let it cool, clean with acetone, and reapply. |
