[ARCHIVED THREAD] - rear sight question

I recently picked up a Smith and Wesson MP15. I am going to take the carry handle off and put an Aimpoint on. I am going to order a LaRue mount for the Aimpoint. Now I need to decide on a rear sight. I want a folding one, but other than that, not much preference. Suggestions? What is the the "best bang for the buck" I'm not sure how I feel about the polymer one from Magpul. Any durability issues?

It is really up to you. There are many makers and all have a following.

I have both the LMT (non-folding) rear sight and two ARMS rear sights. Besides those two brands, folks give good feedback on GG&G, Troy, and YHM.

Considering that you will most likely NEVER use the back up irons I wouldn't be too concerned with durability. If this is your duty gun, or home defense weapon, than I would get a Troy or other proven sight just to be on the safe side. Otherwise, the Magpul is fine. Don't forget to zero whatever you buy, it is worthless without that small step

I've got an Aimpoint ML3 on a LaRue cantilever mount with a Troy flip up rear sight. Some would consider Troy sights the industry standard and I would agree. Works great for me.

The GGG A2 model is what we are issued, I have a midwest on a personal gun that I like too, its about the same. I think the midwest is less expensive.
