Do i really need to stake the "castle nut" down on my receiver extension?  It seems like it is in there pretty damn good without it.

Just wondering
Thanks in advance

Recoil vibration seems like it is specifically tuned to unscrew anything that has a thread and isn't staked or secured. Least that's my experience.

EDIT: Only when you least expect it, though

All depends on if you want to do it right or not.

Stake the receiver end plate in two places across from the notches in the locking nut = Correct

Buy the cheap automatic center punch from Lowe's or the equivalent.  I have used mine to properly stake my castle nuts and thousands of other times on firearms and projects.
