Very interesting...I have one from a bison I shot a few weeks ago. The butcher is sending me another he found while cutting it up. I'll post some pictures when I receive it. My bullets are 350gr.Hornady RN and I was surprised how little they had deformed, except for peeling the front of the jacket. I had to shot 5 times before it went down All too high for the heart.

| I like the 405gr. bullet best. It does shed its jacket but it has the weight to keep on trucking. I was told that the 350 rn was meant for the 458 win mag and probably didn't have enough velocity in the socom to mushroom. The Barnes bullet is a great performer, but I don't think it would be my choice for buff's. I would love to shoot a buffalo someday and I would probably use the 405 gr rem. or a 350 to 400 grain hard cast bullet. That's a big animal. |
