| Thanks Alot for the help guys. I'm interested in covering the gas block and maybe going a little longer than a 13.2" guard. How long do they make them? Also, does anybody know how to remove a smooth free floating barrel? Such as the one on a bushy predator? Thanks. |

Plan on buying a new gas tube, because you will bend the one you have. Basically, the only way to get a smooth tube off (provided it is threaded on) is to take a strap wrench and twist the tube counter-clockwise until the tube separates from the barrel nut. Heat helps, but only so much. The strap wrench may not even have enough purchase to break it free. I had to use a pair of channel-locks on mine to get it off. It ended up breaking the barrel nut loose and bending the gas tube until the gas tube stopped the whole thing from rotating. Like I said, buy a spare gas tube. After that, undo the gas-block and flash-hider/comp and slide the gas block and tube off the rifle. Then take a barrel wrench and remove the barrel nut. Then just follow the instructions (that should come with the new handguard) for installing the new piece. |

I removed the tube from my brother in laws Bushmaster by putting the upper in a vise block and using a strap wrench. Took a little effort but it spun right off. |
