I am trying to reload a Mk262 round that I can practice with for service rifle....ANyone know the components and reciepe? By the way...whats the approximate velocity out of a 20" barrel?? |

Go to the reloading forum > general > and do a search. new one comes up every other day... reloading forum |
| all I'm asking is for a reciepie that comes close to the performance of the MK262 round out of a 20" service rifle so we can practice in between matches...(getting points for distingished)....and the Mk262 is issued before each match....so we cant bring our own. |
| Why not just write down your KD No Wind zeros with Mk262 in your score book than practice with BH 77 match loads or a generic match 77 Nosler/SMK load with Varget etc ? They will all shoot good enough especially for Military EIC leg type matches; An exact duplicate is unnecessary for " Practice ". |

I know this isn't the reloading forum but... here's what works for me as an "MK262 clone" ... 23.6 gr H335 Win brass CC1 450 primers 75 gr Hornady OTM 2760 f.p.s. out of an 18" WOA barrel. Per this article www.gunsandammomag.com/ammunition/mk262_080105/, MK262 goes 2783 out of an 18" barrel so that's pretty darn close. The other loads I have tried with the Hornady 75 OTM are 23.6 gr TAC at 2691 FPS with WSR primer (win brass) and 24.0 gr Varget at 2610 FPS with WSR primer and Win brass. Accurate-wise, Varget was consistently sub MOA, the H335 just slightly worse (about MOA) and TAC slightly over MOA... As always, these were safe in MY AR-15 and showed no signs of excessive pressure... this might not be the case in anyone else's AR. Scot |
