Ok all. I can buy new replacement parts for everything. I can keep a damaged mag body and have a new one to replace it. A new "Post-ban" to replace my preban. Is there a law that actually states that I can't have a Post-ban lower to replace a non-functional preban lower?? Thanks, Mortis... |

(Btw, there is a legal section in the General area.) You cannot mate a post-ban lower with a pre-ban upper. This would be creating a "semi-automatic assault weapon", and no new assault weapons can be created/manufactured after Sep. 1994. If you dig around BATF's website, I think it says you can send the receiver back to the manufacturer for a replacement. The manufacturer then has to park a new receiver with the old serial number and destroy the old one. |

The law provides for "repair" (which includes replacement) of a pre-ban lower without losing its pre-ban status. However, the law also states that only the original manufacturer may do so. So, if you have a pre-ban lower from a defunct manufacturer, and you damage it beyond repair, you're SOL. -Troy |

its an essential arms. Got it from a friend that had a house fire. He bought a new bushmaster and gave me the badly damaged lower. It is basically a blob now. You can barely make out the ser#. I initially got it for a paper weight, but since the #'s are still there, it is still a firearm. I guess there isn't much I can do with it. Yet one more lost. Thanks all, Mortis... |
| contact DPMS they bought out all the left over essential arms parts and tooling, I don't really think they can help you but its worth a shot. also ask them if they can help you to chase it down, and if that is no help contact big brother and ask them if there are any other options, |
