i have a standard FSB on my AR right now. i would like to replace it with either a railed gas block, or a gas block with a flip up FSB. what tools are required to change out the gas block? is there a picture thread showing how to do this? it looks like its just a couple of pins, but i have been wrong before. lastly, can you recommend a railed gas block, or a gas block with a flip up sight. thanks adam

Any particular reason why you want to do this? The standard FSB with the pins is the most secure type of front sight. There really isn't any reason to remove it for a flip up unless it really really bothers your sight picture in your optics. But with lower 1/3 cowitness with a dot it should not be an issue, nor is it an issue 3x and above with magnafied optics.
That said, if you have reason to remove it, I'd use a PRi barrel mounted flip up. Again, these are clamp on or set screwed to the barrel and are no where as secure as the pinned FSB. |
