hello guys,  just got a 603 upper, it looks real good but for a small bit of rust on the protective ears of the front sight .  I dont want to refinish the whole barrel  I was wondering if there was a way to touch it up, or to make it less obvious?

Extra fine steel wool and plenty of oil. Plenty of oil. Afterwards, touch up any bare spots with a little cold blue.

If all the above fails; try a small dab of Naval Jelly.

Actually, that's an even better idea. I don't remember which member first tried it on a barrel. but we were all surprised how nice it turned out. Toilet bowl cleaner works too - not quite as strong as naval jelly. Wear gloves and eye protection. No joke.

Rub Kroil on the rust with a rag until you get it off then Castwell's oxypho to blacken the part and neutrailze the phosphate with gold grease.
