I am trying to come up with a set up for my AR with a scope with no crosshairs and a laser sight (not a red dot scope).  Basiclly you project the dot from the laser sight, and use the scope to see what the dot is on.  Does any one have a set up like this, or will it work?  Any input will be appreciated!

Uh, I know of something *like* this that isn't quite the same.  It's an Israeli red dot sight with an integrated laser pointer.  I believe there is a reticle. It is called the ITL MARS.  I don't know if they're available to civillians.

not exactly what i'm talking about.  the set-up i'm talking about is a barrel or rail mounted laser pointer, and a scope mounted on the carrrying handle.

It will only work at night but I have used a 3.5-10X Leupold with a Surefire laser and could see the dot for over 2K yards on flat objects like a building.  You can literlly see the beam itself for a good 1K yards.  You cant see it at all during the daytime on anything lit directly with bright sunlight. You are better off with a lit reticle scope IMO.
