i have been hunting around for the last two days for a scope and cant seem to find one that i like (thats including the ones out of my price range). I dont have a lot of knowlege about scopes and was hoping for some help. i have had two bushnelle scopes, and have not been terribly pleased. i had one BSA and wasnt real happy with it. i am finding NcStar Barsak tasco bushnell simons and a number of others found the tasco world series varment scopes, look decent I need a descent scope for a .308 shooting up to 700yds any suggestions Thanks for all the help, im going to get one of the leupold vx2 scopes 3-9x40 |

iI found the Tasco World Class Varmint Rifle Scope 4-16x 40mm and it has descent reviews, it also has 1/8 moa adjustments. For $75 its not a bad deal, at the same time its just under half of a better scope. also they have the same scope with mil dot, but it is an illuminated reticle, are they any good if you dont use the illumination? where is the optics forum, cant find it |
STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THESE!!! |
why? for 16 bucks how can you go wrong?

| Mueller is about the lowest on the low end I'd go. On the plus side, they're still pretty good scopes, and a decent bang for your buck. As always though, you get what you pay for. Mine sits on a .22 bolt gun, and I couldn't be happier, but when it comes time to scope one of my centerfires, I'll likely look towards the Leupold. |

Leupold I used to have Tasco and Simons scopes on my rifles. I just couldn't see paying the price for a Leupold, but a few years ago I bought a new deer rifle and the guy at the gun shop talked me into a Leupold. He said why pay over a $1000 for a rifle and put a cheap $50 scope on it. It was some of the best advice I've ever got. It hurt my wallet but every scoped gun I've got, now has a Leupold on it. You get what you pay for. |
I went through 4 of them for my AR-15 and none of them would hold a zero for very long. After I returned the fourth one I gave up and spend the extra money and bought a Leupold |

To me Super Sniper is the best deal going. They're fixed power though, 10x, 16x, and 20x. $300 for a rear focus or $400 for side and you can slap it on a .50 cal if you were so inclined. At least that's what they say...if I had the money to test that claim I probably wouldn't be buying their scope. If it's good enough for the navy it's good enough for you

He speaks the truth. |
I dont know. I have a cheap Tasco 2.5-10 on my 10/22 and its held its zero for the last 5 years or so. I missed the part about .308 shooting at 700yds though

NcStar=sh*t Barsak=sh*t tasco =sh*t simons = mostly sh*t, but some are decent enough for hunting, but NONE for target the above brands a POS--i know; they might "work" for a while, or for casual range time, but are NOT suited imo for heavy use, competitions, or serious precision/duty use if you want to waste your $$$s on the barsk and NCs, by all means; but, if you want something that will work, skip em bushnell=usually very decent optics, w/ a few models suited for target/precision shooting expect to pay almost a grand for a decent scope for your uses: Leupold, S&B, Nightforce would be my 1st choices the best, "cheap" scope that works and is of quality is the SWFA super sniper; i would recommend these if you are on a budget; if you want a variable scope for a comparable price, i'd look to a Nikon buckmaster w/ mildots or a bushnell |
