the other day i was fishing when i got a very disturbing phone call. someone had broken into my house. when i got home the only gun that they had stolen was my  unfinished ar that i had left out because i just added afew things to. i am curently waiting on my lower. within 2 hours the local sherrif dept. had them in custidy. that night we had most of our stuff back, even my upper minis the bolt carrier assembly and charging handle. at least i got most of my work back. my question is. the stupid &^$&$*&^$ triied to load the gun without a lower. now the inside of my upper is scratched. will that effect the life of my ar upon completion.

The bolt carrier rides on the four "rails".  It does not contact the entire inside of the upper.  If the carrier does not drag in the upper, just ignore the scratch.
