To get a NY compliant muzzle device off of a DPMS AP4 I cut it off. I had bought a new barrel. I had the original barrel threaded by a shop and it is ready to go. The question is without the muzzle device the barrel is way short and with a muzzle device it is just under 16". Is there anywhere that this barrel will be legal? I don't mind keeping it as it has only had 100 or so rounds through it and is in excellent condition and I could if need be buy a long muzzle device and be 1/16 to 1/4 in over the 16" Curious? thanks in advance for answers.

Just having that barrel in your possession could land you in jail if the feds walked in right now!

Is there anywhere it is legal? Yes, in states that allow AR15 pistols you could build a pistol if it is a virgin receiver and NEVER has/has had a stock on it. Also in states that allow class 3/NFA weapons but even then you should never buy the barrel before you get the OK from the ATF!

ETA: IF you put a longer muzzle device on it, it MUST be permanetly attached, via welding or plind pin and weld. (have a smith do it)

Just sell the barrel.

Put an extended FH on it, perhaps a Vortex, Phantom or extended A2.  Have it permanently attached.  ADCO will do it for $30.
