I have a LMT rear sight. it is zeroed, on bench, for 300m and it works great. I set it to 6/3 and flip up the (0-2) aperature and shoot at objects 100-200m away and i shoot 3" low. Should I re-zero? I can' figure out why it shoots low. am I used to the small aperature and not sighting the 0-2 properly? I zeroed at 25y FYI... Thanks |

What hold are you using, a 6 o'clock or a center hold? A 25 yard center hold will give you a bit more than 300 meter zero (but not by much). The 0-200 aperture should compensate for the too high trajectory at 100 -200 yards for a center hold. If you use a 6 o'clock hold like I do, keep using the small aperture and don't worry about the slightly high trajectory at 100-200 yards. I found that for even a prone silhouette "dog" target that the trajectory does not go too far above line of sight that you will miss. It is better to sight in so that at 25 yards the bullet impact is right on the top of the front sight post if not a tad low. For ranges longer than 60 yards, use the 6 o'clock hold, for those closer you will naturally hold higher---if you can see the face well, put the front sight on the chin or neck. This is with a 5.56 55 or 62 grain bullet. Dave. |
