Gen 1 is what I'd get.

Gen 2 is not that much lighter and I think the steel rod will hold up longer than aluminum.  

You can add weights to either one and change out springs to fine tune either.

nice.

my buddy had the scp in his colt,  he said his bolt wont lock back and stay open after the last round.

is this common?

The only fail to lock back on an empty mag I've had was the very first range trip using the SCS.
After I shot few mags the problem went away.

If it's a constant issue I'd contact JP and ask them.  

JP originally claimed when it first hit the market, the SCS wouldn't work in a Magpul UBR stock yet I've never had any issue.
