alright, i JUST got my daniel defense sling and i hooked it all up as i thought it should and tried it out.  when i let go of the rifle though it hangs kind of upside down and to the side with the pistol grip pointing toward my gut.  the guy in the picture lets it go and his stays right side up.  i've got a rock river arms 16" with the entry stock.  what am i doing wrong?  i'm sure it's something right in my face, but i'm too tired and my brain is moving too slow to figure it out.  help me Mr. Wizard!!!

What I usually do, is play around with all the adjustment points bit by bit, until you find a point where the rifle hangs comfortably for you. Feel it out a little bit.

Where are you attaching the sling to on the rifle?  Depending how high up the sling attaches at the buttstock and FSB, will determine how the rifle hangs.  Adjusting the length of the sling can also play a role as well.

i think i did that right, i just read an email from a gentleman that was reading about my problem.  he told me one way of fixing it, but basically, i'm gonna get a collapsable after september (God willing) and that should help me out.  any other suggestions would be welcome though.

I've never used the sling in question, but from the looks of your picture, it appears that the adjustment point in the middle, where the two pieces connect, needs to be adjusted more to the rear of the rifle along the butt.  THis should put more weight forward of the pivot point and cause the weapon to hang muzzle down like you want.

No offense but the lighting/color of the rifle make it hard to tell...so I dunno if the problem really is THIS obvious...but you don't have it connected on the factory sling loops (ie. the ones on the bottom/rear of the buttstock and under the FSB) do you? That would be an obvious cause I guess....I just can't tell in the pic...

Ok, pretty much the best way for you to get your gun to rest upright, is to have some sort of aftermarket side/top sling mount, or a sling that is designed to fit with the gun slung upright, where the sling is naturally designed to suspend the rifle from the top or sides.
www.bravocompanyusa.com has some good descriptive photos of how different CQB Solutions slings can be mounted that might give you and idea or two, unfortunately, having an (though shorter) A2 style buttstock kind of limits your sling mounting options. I'm sure others will chime in here to continue on this, but I've only got experience with M4 and CAR buttstock/sling combos

Not to sound like a smart ass, but would it hang right if you put a loaded mag in it?

yeah i know, it doesn't do bad, and i think i might have stated that above, i just thought that it would hang upright either way.  i imagined something different.  i guess i was off.  i'm still gonna put a rail and stock (eventually) on it and we'll see what happens after that.

deerkillindad21,

The X-treme sling runs best with a Burnsed Loop and DD's RMFL.    Until you get a rail, I would recommend an A1 Burnsed Loop and a loaded mag.  That will make a vast improvement.
