I cant seem to find much info on this so i thought i would ask you all for some help. I do not have enough money for a gun safe nor room for a gun shelf. Currently i have my gun in a soft polyester case. I live in colorado so humidity isn't extreme by any means and i also always put a nice layer of rem oil on the exterior surfaces as well as a light coat in the barrel with better lube where needed as rem oil somewhat dries onto the metal. I started reading on only a couple sites that this type of storage can lead to rust but most people were attributing it to cotton or foam cases which hold moisture for awhile, so is polyester safe to store my gun in as in does it breath enough to keep the gun dry. If this is a bad storage option how do you all recommend i should store the gun. since i have no safe it is sort of down to just sitting out in my closet or in the case i have, sorry for ramble, just want to make sure my baby is taken care of. thanks for any help.

under the bed seems like a dry enough place, rest of the time  next to the doorway   should not be an issue

I store mine in bags as well, with Home Made Desiccant.

Hope this helps!

Nah, if it's a bag, it's going to breath.  No worries - you will be fine.

Could always store it in one of those silicone treated gun socks in the closet, & just use the case for transportation.

When I lived in an apartment for a short time I simply hung my AR up with my clothes in the closet.Get one of the heavy duty wooden coat hangers and loop the sling around the hook.If you want to get it further out of view,or kkep dust off, collapse the stock and drap a polyester dress shirt or similar over it in the closet. You can also mount one of the wooden dowel type coat/hat racks in the back of the closet and hang the rifle by the sling etc..

Under the bed....well in my experience it depends on how much temp swing you get at or under floor level and moisture level of the crawl space. My house for example is 100+ years old with ceiling radiant heat, floor temp varies greatly depending on weather conditions.Under the bed in my house could be cold and/or damp depending on the weather.Ive had leather shoes mildew quickly as a result so thats not a consideration in my case.I generally like to have my guns, shoes etc. off the floor as a result

No need to worry about rust here in Colorado. Especially with the case you are using.
