| Has anyone tried mounting a streamlight scorpion to an ar-15. IF so, what mount did you use? Also I would like to know how it has preformed. |

The Scorpion is different diameter than most SF lights (which are what many mounts are marketed for) at 0.925", and won't work with the traditional 1" mounts. You'd have to find a mount in that diameter. First Samco/Fobus/CAA makes one, but the little clamps that hold the light in place don't hold mine super firmly, and I can slowly pull the light out of the mount when it's cranked down tight.

I believe the Elzetta will work with a Scorpion - someone recently posted that they're using one with it. Likewise, the fully adjustable mounts, like the TRGear (http://www.trgear.com/osc/eshop/product_info.php/products_id/212) will work with almost any light. It's very well made, but is bulky and sticks out a lot. There was someone selling them for $25 on the EE not long back. AFAIK, there's no LED upgrade for the Scorpion, and no shock isolating bezels available, so you'd be stuck with the reliability risk of xenon bulbs under recoil. My Scorpions have been very reliable, but I haven't used them on a rifle. |
