in my state of ct, i am not allowed to have an adjustable stock on my ar without buying a preban lower and i dont have the money to spend on that.  i am planning on building an m4.  Should i get the stubby stock so my gun will atleast be short or should i stick with the fullsize a2 stock.  I want a stock thats functional and i dont want one thats pinned.  (By functional meaning i can use it...the a2 is functional in that i can put a cleaning kit in it.)  any help in my issue is appreciated.

get an a1 stock if you have to have a fixed stock.  The a2 is a little long for my tastes, and unless you plan on wearing armor or lots of clothing all the time, the stubby "entry" stock would be a little short.

As far as I know you'll have to find a used one.  I like the feel of the A1 stocks better too.  The early ones without the trapdoor are 2 - 4 oz. less than the later ones with the trapdoor.  I guess you would want one of the later ones so you can put the cleaning kit in it.
