| i just but my ion bonded bcg from denny in my VIS-2 upper with a noveske barrel... what would cause it to take an excessive amount of force to pull the charging handle back? the weapon is not dry i have tried cycling it several (50ish) times to see if its just tight sometimes its ok then locks up tight. any suggestions? |
| I looked it up and the ION bonded are M16 BCG. Perhaps there is a bit of difference between the M16 and AR15 BCG that could be causing drag on the hammer when charging. Some hammers are notched and some are not, I don't know if it makes a difference, I'm just throwing it out there as a thought. Also, does ION bonding add thickness to the BCG? It may loosen up with firing, but I'm assuming you are concerned that if it doesn't move freely, it might cause a catostrophic failure. |
Also, does it require this excessive force just to get the bolt out of battery, or the entire length of BCG travel?? If you have another bolt to try and it works OK with the new carrier, sounds like a possible bolt lug dimension issue somehow. |

with the lower removed it still sticks... the carrier is ion bonded i replaced the bolt that came with the BCG with the fitted bolt for that specific noveske barrel.... it is only difficult getting it lose after that the rest of the way it slides no problem... ion bonding only adds 5 microns... looking at the bolt and reciever im not seein any obvious signs of wear or where it is binding with the lower removed and no charging handle the bolt still gets stuck but it seems to be gettin the initial movement where it is sticking the the lugs just the little rotation with the cam (dont the tech. word for that phase of bolt operation) i used a screw driver when it got stuck on the front of the carrier and once it moved that little bit it was not stuck. so thats where the issue is. |
I'm concerned about you having to use a screwdriver to get the lugs out of battery. Could you try the new bolt with an old carrier?? I'm beginning to wonder if the bore for the bolt on the new carrier is off centerline. Could also be that the cam slot is off somehow too. |
