Wondering what kind of affect on accuracy an avg .30 suppressor would have on a 16" pre ban 300 whisper from model 1 sales. I would really like to have an SBR upper in one but i cant find any. I think a 300 whisper upper with a barrel about 11 1/2" or so would be awesome(dont want to have the barrel chopped down either). i just dont like the idea of all that suppressor weight out there on the end of that 16"er, not to mention the O/A length. Thanks alot, Jeremy |

A well designed suppressor should not hurt accuracy and may even improve it. Factors such as baffle design and efficency affect the bullet as it passes through the suppressor. A poor design may cause the bullet to yaw as it passes through causing poor accuracy and in a worse case baffle strikes. A quality can from any of the better known manufacturers should not have this problem. Like most things in life you get what you pay for. I believe SSK or another company specialize in the 300 whisper cartiridge. Check with them to see what brand they use. Have fun, suppressors are fun. Scott |

Funny no one brought up the point that the can acts like a barrel harmonizer, and tames the barrel's end whip, due to the added weight on the muzzle. But in the case of adding a can to a 11 1/2 heavy barrel, you going to gain little in accuracy, due to the minimum of barrel flex/length. |

Few more q's.. I see that the Mod 1 300 upper has a 1 in 8 twist rate which i asume wouldnt be very accurate with the heavy sub sonic loads(180gr-220gr) since i will be primarily shooting heavy sub-sonic bullets and if im write about the twist in the mod one upper does anyone make a 300 upper that would have a slower twist to better suit the heavier bullets? im guessn that i would need a twist rate of more like 1-12 for a 180-220 gr bullet traveling at around 1000-1100 FPS. ORRrr, do i have this figured backwards? Someone please help me out on this. Thanks alot, Jeremy |
