| I'm looking at a ar with a surefire attached. I didn't see a model number and the owner said it came with the rifle when he bought it. Its mounted to the sight with the bulb portion in front of the sight assembly. the battery portion is attached to the mount to the right of the bulb/head with the pressure pad running to the bottom of the picany. I can't find anything similar on any surefire sights. Any ideas what model of light this is??? Another way to visualize this thing is imagine a grip light set up with the 2 parts of the light seperated but mounted differently. |

That is the classic surefire post mount light. They had an adapter you could run to line up the lense with the barrel. Those sold for around $360. Nobody buys those any longer because they are heavy, not very bright, and most prefer the rail mount lights now.
It should do fine for home defense, but not bright enough without an upgrade for outdoor use. http://dpmsinc.com/store/products/?prod=5023&cat=1480 |
| Thanks for info. I new it was a bit outdated, but for the price I'm paying I cannot complain one bit. The design is different from the link you sent. The light I'm getting with the gun looks identical to the one in the link I found with the light being directly over the barrel, rather than offset to the right. |

SureFire Classic WeaponLight model 676 features their A15 offset adapter and their M26 mount which clamps to the front strut of the AR15/M4 front sight casting.
It features a remote tape pressure switch with 5" long cable. The A15 was originally designed to centre a laser sight module over the barrel as close to it as possible but in the case of the 676 a 6V incandescent lamp module (L36) is used. |
| Did a little more research and found out that the rifle has a A17 offset adapter ($154), classic light ($300), front sight post clamp ($120). Even though its outdated, heavy, not cool anymore light system..... It's on a $700 deal that also includes a EOtech, surefire picany guards, and vltor stock. |

Are you sure it's an A17 Adjustable Offset Adapter rather than the A15 Offset Adapter. I'm not sure that the A17 can be fitted to the M26 front sight post mount (there'd be no reason to use the A17 rather than the A15 with this type of mount). I don't believe that SureFire made an dedicated model featuring the A17. I'm really interested to see photos too now! |

I have the rifle now and the quote above has an identical light set up that mine has. Also it is in fact the A15 with the L36 Lamp head. |

So this is dead on with what I have. Sell it or keep it??? If sell how much should I ask?? |
