I have an upper with a railed gas block (set screw) that I would like to replace with an MI or PRI low profile one so I can run a railed forend over it.  Do I have to remove the gas tube or just the pin and swap?????

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I have never changed gas blocks before!!!

The gas tube might just drop out when you remove the pin anyway so don't sweat it.

It just slides into the upper reciever.

ETA: Re-reading your post, you want to change your forearm also, so you will have to remove the gas tube when you change the barrel nut.
There is a how-to in the tacked assembly thread above.
