I'm going to be getting tactical handguards but theres 2 different types, ones for colt handguard caps and one not. Whats the difference between colt handguard caps and others? I'm guessing the colt cap is triangular shaped, but I'm not sure.

are you talking about MI hanguards for carbine? I can't tell you the difference between colt's HG cap and non colt HG cap but I know for sure they are both round shaped

Someone jump in and correct me if I’m wrong.

The differences they refer to are the inner dimension of the delta ring, which I read on Colts is slightly different.

Colt just has a slightly different angle to their handguard cap.
